Maxshelf supplies illuminated back panel shelving units — complete LED-backlit gondola and wall bay units designed for retail shops, supermarkets, convenience stores and vape shops across the UK. Each unit combines a standard steel shelving frame with a built-in LED back panel that creates a bright, even backlight behind your products — improving visibility, enhancing display impact and driving attention to key product zones. Stock is held at our Elstree warehouse for fast UK delivery or same-day collection.
Complete Lit Shelving Unit
Unlike a standalone back panel, this is a complete shelving unit with the LED panel integrated into the bay structure. Arrive, install and light — no separate panel fitting required. Compatible with standard shelving accessories including hooks, dividers and price strips.
LED Back Panel — 6500K Cool White

Vape Shops & Tobacco Retail
LED-backlit shelving is the standard display format for vape retail. The bright backlight makes products clearly visible behind the counter or on display walls — improving staff efficiency and creating a high-impact point-of-sale environment.
Supermarkets & Convenience Stores
Illuminated shelving units are used in premium product zones, promotional areas and featured display sections. The backlit effect draws customer attention and differentiates specific categories from the surrounding standard shelving layout.
Off-Licences & Wine Retail
Backlit shelving for wines, spirits and premium drinks has a proven effect on dwell time and purchase value. The LED illumination creates a warm, high-end display that suits premium product positioning.
Need just the LED back panel without the full shelving unit?
Order the standalone LED Back Panel separately — available in all four widths to retrofit into an existing bay.
An illuminated back panel shelving unit is a complete retail shelving bay with a built-in LED panel that backlights the shelving area from behind. Unlike a standalone back panel, the LED is integrated into the unit structure — creating a ready-to-use lit display without separate installation. It is widely used in vape shops, convenience stores, supermarkets and off-licences to highlight featured products and create high-impact display zones.
The unit is available in four widths, each with a corresponding LED lumen output: 665mm (12,000 lm), 800mm (16,000 lm), 1000mm (21,000 lm) and 1250mm (26,000 lm). All widths output 6500K cool white light and have a fixed panel height of 1200mm and depth of 15mm.
The illuminated back panel unit is a complete shelving unit with the LED panel built in — you receive a full bay ready to configure with shelves and accessories. The standalone LED back panel is the panel only, designed to be retrofitted into an existing gondola or wall bay. If you are fitting out from scratch, the complete unit is the more straightforward option. If you already have shelving in place, the standalone panel is the more cost-effective choice.
Yes. The unit is compatible with standard gondola and wall bay shelving accessories including adjustable shelves, hooks, dividers, wire risers and price strips. This allows you to configure the display for your specific product range without needing specialist components.
